Tattoo Laser Removal - What Should YOU Do?

Ahhhh, tattoos.  Very often you either are completely enthralled with the tattoo(s) you have gotten or you feel nothing but regret.  There just doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground.  So if you fall in the second category, is tattoo laser removal the right choice for you?

Tattoos can be something you cherish or can be a constant reminder of a major mistake.  Even if you loved that tat for a long time, things can change.  Maybe the tattoo has faded or stretched or changed in accordance to your own body changing.  Or did you get a lover's name tattooed on yourself only now to find yourself wondering what you ever saw in that person in the first place?  Sometimes priorities change as well - maybe your new profession frowns on tattoos and having a tattoo is keeping you from advancing in your career.

Tattoo laser removal is definitely an option you may want to consider.  It definitely is not for everyone though.  Just as each tattoo is unique to the person wearing it, tattoo laser removal will be different from person to person.

Here are a few things to consider if you go with laser removal:

1.)  It can be pricey

As with anything you can find good deals and prices.  However, going with the cheapest person is not always in your best interest.  What you save in a few dollars for the process may end up costing you much more due to doctor's visits and prescriptions to treat a resulting infection.  Or worse.  Seriously could anything be worse than paying a good chunk of change to have a tattoo removed only to be left with a worse looking scar?  That's not to say the less expensive person is bad, but don't base your decision on price alone.  Which also means don't assume the most expensive person is the best either.

2.)  It can frickin' hurt!

Again, people respond differently to pain.  And as we all know, the location matters a lot as well.  In my own experience with getting tattooed, my first one didn't hurt at all while my second hurt like hell- It felt like the tattoo artist was using a drill rather than a tattoo needle.  Some people who have had tattoo laser removal done have said having their tattoo removed hurt far more than getting it in the first place.

3.)  It may not remove your tattoo completely

People will have varying degrees of success and the type of tattoo and inks used often have an impact on how effective tattoo laser removal will be.  And depending on skin type and other things you may end up with some scarring - even if the person is completely competent.

So those are just a few things to keep in mind.  It is definitely an individual decision and one size does not fit all.  Luckily there are alternatives to laser removal.  For more information and an overview on the alternatives to tattoo laser removal go here.
